Half of All Children With Autism Wander

The Interactive Autism Network recently did a survey about wandering and elopement among people who have autism spectrum disorders. The results of the survey may be alarming to parents who have a child who has been diagnosed with autism. Rescuers Find Missing Autistic Boy by Playing Music

An eight year old boy who has autism left his school playground. In order to lure the child out from wherever he was hiding, rescuers played the boy’s favorite song, (which happened to be by Ozzy Osbourne). Fortunately, the boy appeared to be fine. An online survey done by The Interactive Autism Network (IAN) asked questions of over 800 parents who had at least one child who had autism. Tracking Devices Don’t Work if Batteries are Not Charged

A child who has autism wandered away from his home in Illinois. His parents were using a tracking device called Life Trak as a precautionary measure. The boy was found, and was unharmed, but the search took longer than expected because the batteries in the device were not charged.
